The University of Melbourne's UNICEF club is hosting a free film screening next week to raise awareness of child trafficking and sex slavery.

The Unicef Club is holding two free film screenings of the movie "Holly":

Date: Tuesday 18 August
Time: 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Venue: Old Arts Theatre C

Date: Wednesday 19 August
Time: 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Venue: Old Physics Rm 201

This movie explores the disturbing world of child trafficking, as one man decides he cannot ignore the problem and fights to save one young girl from the horrific life forced upon her.

With many scenes shot in actual brothels, the harsh yet poetic "Holly" forms part of the K-11 Project, dedicated to raising awareness of the epidemic of child trafficking and the sex slavery trade through several film projects.

Everyone is welcome to attend, and snacks will be provided.

Thanks for that - too far for me, but I've posted it for a couple of rad fem friends living in Daylesford. Wish I were closer - I'd love to meet!

Yeah, me too! You're a brilliant writer and there's such a dearth of (internet) radical/lesbian feminists in Melbourne... :(
Oh well. I don't know where you are in regional Victoria, but lately I've been thinking about moving to Daylesford or somewhere in the Goldfields region after I've finished my degree...If I'm capable of liveing independently and doing postgraduate study at a Victorian university....

Anyway, I hope to go to the Tuesday session...time and memory permitting. Hopefully it will be sufficiently feminist not to necessitate an angry blog post
