Some of Us Are Brave show

Postby oneangrygirl » Thu Jun 08, 2006 10:27 am

Finally: *A Black Women's Radio Program* is up and running on the
Internet!

*Some of Us Are Brave: A Black Women's Radio Program* *(SOUAB)* began on June
10, 2003 at KPFK in Los Angeles, CA. It takes its name from the
ground-breaking book, *All the Women are White, All the Blacks are Men, But
Some of Us Are Brave, * edited by Gloria T. Hull, Patricia Bell Scott, and Barbara Smithand published in 1982.

The current cyberspace incarnation of *SOUAB* is a project of the
newly-formed Ida B. Wells Institute based in Atlanta, Georgia. Its purpose
is three-fold:

= To provide a space for the voices and perspectives of Black women, since
our voices and perspectives are silenced in much of the media;

= To raise the level of dialogue and analysis on issues of importance to
Black women wherever they may be;

and

= To provide food for the *minds* of Black women as opposed to simply
playing music for the hearts and souls of Black women

Check out the original *SOUAB* every Thursday at 2:00 pm (Pacific Standard
Time) on KPFK ( 90.7 FM in Los Angeles, 98.7 FM in Santa Barbara, or
http://www.kpfk.org), and check out *Some of Us Are Brave … South* at
http://www.live365.com/stations/souab

Peace!
