CNN: 1st- and 2nd-grade boys sexually assault girl

Postby dragonfly » Thu May 11, 2006 7:16 am

This is disgusting. It's bad enough that people (men and women alike) are faced with pornography at every turn...but what about the kids? If this is what they're exposed to, it's what they're going to mimic. Quite frankly, I'm horrified.

ST. LOUIS, Missouri (AP) -- Twelve boys in the first and second grade at a St. Louis elementary school are accused of sexually assaulting a second-grade girl during recess, authorities said Tuesday.

One teacher who was supposed to be supervising the recess has been fired, and another suspended with pay, school superintendent Creg Williams said.

Ten of the boys, ages 6 to 8, were suspended for the rest of the school year, and the other two received five-day, in-school suspensions. (Watch to see the scene and what the school plans for alleged attackers -- 2:44)

No names were released.

The girl, who is 8, was unharmed physically but will not return for the rest of the school year. "We don't know what type of emotional scars it will have on the young lady," Williams said.

The incident happened Friday at Columbia Accelerated Community Educational Center, a school with 400 students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade on the city's north side.

During the recess shortly after lunch, a student alerted a teacher when he saw several boys huddled around the girl who was on the ground.

Police turned the investigation over to juvenile authorities. A court official said the boys could face misdemeanor counts of sexual misconduct and assault.

"In my mind it's unconscionable that it happened and in my mind people have to be held accountable," Williams said. "How is it this kind of thing is even in the minds of young men?" ...

Kathryn Herman, administrator of the city's Juvenile Court, said the boys could be charged with first-degree sexual misconduct and third-degree assault. She said one of the boys is age 6, seven are age 7, and four are age 8.

"These are really young kids," Herman said. "I can't think of many other cases at this age with this type of incident."

yup, male sexualization of females begins at the moment of their birth.

the above reminds me of a scene i witnessed in Paris of a group of school boys this age climbing upon a museum statue of a nude/naked female and making the same poking moves these boys did.

Interesting how after experiencing sexual violence an EIGHT year old GIRL becomes a "young lady"...

It's almost as if it's expected that you 1) you as a woman are going to experience sexual violence 2) once you experience sexual violence - you are no longer innocent or a girl and automatically become a lady.

^^ yes, and even worse he may have implying that she was older than the boys and should have known better.

in any case, i do agree, that the phrase is telling.

i am reminded how almost all of my male college students had a hell of a time writing or mouthing the word "women." it wd always be "woman" or "ladies"--i mean when they were being formal.

I found this on my homepage - not the same as the gang-assault on the 12 year old, but nonetheless, a fairly typical scenario I suspect. I also suspect that many more girls would become eligible for the youngest mom in the uk award if they were biologically mature enough to get pregnant. Note the comment from grandma at the end.

Boy, 15, faces rape charge

A teenage boy has been charged with rape after it emerged a 11-year-old girl had become pregnant, police have said.

The 15-year-old is scheduled to appear again on July 10 at Edinburgh sheriff court having already made a previous appearance, police said.

It emerged that a West Lothian girl, now aged 12, is set to break the record for being the UK's youngest mother.

She told a national newspaper she is "really excited" about having a child after losing her virginity at 11 to a boy aged 15 in Edinburgh.

The girl, who has not been named, is due to give birth in a few weeks, breaking the record set by Jenny Teague, of Dorset, who was had a baby aged 12 years and nine months in 1997.

A spokesman for West Lothian Council said: "We are aware of the situation. We are providing support through our social policy and education teams.

"We are working with the family to support the young person to ensure that the child gets the best possible start."

The mother-to-be told the Scottish Sun newspaper that she hoped the baby would be a boy.

The girl's 34-year-old mother also said she was proud of her daughter.

It's amazing how an article that begins by talking about rape charges can have such a "happy" ending.

You were raped at 11, but congratulations, you broke a record!

Sick.

Sick is not the word

Postby Army Of Me » Fri May 12, 2006 11:53 pm

There is not word that can truly describe the situations on this board.

So, it looks like the 12 year old girl's record was immediately broken by the girl in west london.

I happened to be watching the paul o'grady show yesterday (UK chat show on at 5pm, hosted by a gay ex-drag queen - yes really) and heard him reading out a feedback letter from a 6 year old girl commenting on how much she likes him and she mentioned a recent show. Apparently (I don't watch this show as a rule) one of the regular features is that he has on someone different each day, representing a certain activity to demonstrate their form of expertise like line dancing, aerobics, hip-hop etc, and he tries it out himself, and of course makes a fool of himself and everyone has a laugh. hahaha.

Back to the letter, he was reading the letter and everyone was going "awwww how cute", as the little girl was saying how much she likes his show. She said that she thought his recent attempts at pole dancing were especially funny (I didn's see the actual show) but was shocked that people found it cute that a 6 year old even knows what poledancing is. Not so much the pole dancing, but it's invariable associations (the people in this industry always play down the sleazy side of poledancing and promote it as healthy empowering excercise when promoting it mainstream, when it suits them, and promote it in it's reality when advertising to attract men). It's just funny jolly japes isn't it?

So, another little girl has mentally crossed over into the wonderful world of "adult" entertainment, although she doesn't know it yet. I suppose I'm being really naive - her mother could be a stripper - who knows these days?

My point is, trying to tie in the above stories, that "grooming" for sex is not just done by individuals, it's done by exposure to images, from a very young age by the media. This used to happen slowly and subtly by today's standards, but now, it's a full-on campaign from day one. So, by the time a girl reaches the age of 11 or 12, the perverts don't have so much work to do to convince a girl that what they are doing is not sick and wrong.

Yes, I know that boys are abused too but I'm addressing the most obvious images in everday life, which are females as sex toys for men, and increasingly it appears, as sex toys for boys. The media is male-dominated as we all know.

But we in this forum know all this already. There is another story I heard from the show "loose women" (UK) but will tell another time.

I'm depressed now. Well, more depressed.

People's responses are awful too. In the case of the 11 year old girl abused by the 15 year old, apparently it's her fault and if not hers, her parents. A horny drunk 15 year old boy can't be expected to hold back when given the opportunity to have sex with an 11 year old girl -

Army of Me, your story reminds me of Jodie Marsh (an ex-lapdancer, topless model here in the UK for anyone who hasn't heard of her) saying she saw pictures of topless Page 3 girls when she was about five or six and decided they were the most beautiful women she'd ever seen and wanted to grow up to be like them. Similarly Dita von Teese said in one magazine article that she got the idea about being a burlesque/stripper/whatever she does from looking at her Dad's Playboys when she was twelve. Apparently they had a bad relationship which was mended when she did her first Playboy spread (blech).

Dita, Jodie and the rest....

Postby Army Of Me » Sun May 14, 2006 12:41 am

(last paragraph slightly edited 16May'06)
Delphyne, I didnt know that about Jodie or Dita.

Both of these women are just a small drop in the ocean and there are many waiting in the wings while they "recruit", with the help of the media, more like them.

I don't know if you watch BB (UK), but the last celeb one that Jodie was on, she came across as very confused about who she was (Pete Burns is another story and confuses the picture a bit lol). And Dita was on Jonathan Ross (UK chat show host -a well-known supporter of porn and self-proclaimed well- adjusted happy family man - have you seen his wife?!?) and of course Dita was made out to be the ultimate aspiration for women.

It sickens me that these types of women are the ones who mostly get all the media coverage and the way they are portayed is as if they were heroines being celebrated. They are invited onto reality shows and chat shows to show off thier boob jobs and puffed-up pouty laquered lips. It's another manipulative technique and it's no wonder that little girls take the message on board. Oh sorry, I forgot, it's the little girls' faults for having low-self esteem and low confidence. Fux sake.

I did mention in another post on another board that Jo Brand recently highlighted a poll of teenage girls - 63% had ambitions to be "glamour" models. 4% aspired to med school. Not sure about the other 33% but you get the point. Gawd almighty.

It's not the women necessarily that we are criticising, but the overall patriarchical control (sp?)culture that has developed and encouraged them into
being public wank fodder for men, and the perpetuation of the porn message and it's influence by the media. It's forcing us to accept porn as the norm, and now, children are being bombarded every day with sexually explicit images of women, and it looks like it's working, god help us.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and now we know that when Hugh got porn organised, started his empire and started preaching via his mag, that porn, prostitution and rape is a lifestyle, that it wouldn't just stop there. It's been slowly but surely filtered into mainstream consciousness, with some false starts and quite a few fights, but it seems they are winning. It's out of control due to technology and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

(boyfriend looking over my shoulder and saying) "there there dear, don't get yourself so worked up, you'll have another one of your "episodes" - here have this pill and go lie down for awhile - you look so much prettier when you're calm and happy & you should smile more - activism is so umfeminine and men don't like it. Now, if you want to be a spice girl-type feminist, that's different- that's fine, as long as you you're not sporty or scary. Posh is good, "baby" is better and "ginger" wow, those tits- now, that's my kind of feminist- yeah I love that girl-power stuff - or you could be daisy (DD) duke- now there's a feisty little role-model if ever I saw one. Or how 'bout Mariah? She had a boob job as part of her breakdown recovery process and called her new cd 'emancipation of mimi'! I love watching her acting like a pornstar/lapdancer for snoop in her vidoes -what a liberated lady - these ladies are always smiley and happy, so stop being whiney and jealous".
(Me) "Oh, ok then honey, pill is working now - I'll stop now. Don't want to be hated by men do I? How could I forget I exist only for them? Can you please make my botox appointment for freezing my face into a permanently acceptable feature for men to admire, even though I'm often angry as hell - although I try and try to be calm and accepting? Will that help? That would be so nice of you darling. It will be a start and then you can pay for new flubber fun-bags for you to play with on my chest- but maybe I will win the "win a boob job for your girlfriend" competition in your zoo magazine (yes really) and you won't have to pay a thing - what? I have to pay for the boobs too, on top of my hair extensions, regular manicures, make-up, gym membership and sexy underwear? -oh but it's for my confidence you know- and all part of the fun of being a girl yippee!" - (sings favorite song- "I'm a barbie girl in a barbie world, made of plastic, it's fantastic - you can brush my hair, undress me anywhere......").

Sorry people - went off on one there - please humor me.

Thanks sunnysmiles - praise indeed and honored to be on your hard drive!

There's more where that came from - I just started and couldn't stop - no real creative process, just years of pent up anger and observations. I hope it made people laugh a bit too.
