This makes me ashamed ..

Postby elfeminista » Thu Feb 07, 2008 11:50 pm

It makes me ashamed of my gender. I am not a pacifist. There is no way to deal with men who think like this and do this with pacifism.
Is this the way these "men" repay being of woman born? It is not "those men" NO. it is **US ** by not doing anything we are tacitly approving.

OK, all I got was AP Sports Friday which is not terribly riveting or what I think you're referring to.

the basis of these patriarchal "religions" is woman hatred.

I agree. I would never trust a religion that orchestrated the killing of 9 million women as witches! This sickens me! :angryfire:

The Malleus Maleficarum is woman hatred. And it is pornographic IMHO. Read Dworkin's first book (Woman Hating): She wrote a whole chapter on the witch hunt in medieval Europe that explains it better than Wikipedia. The witch-hunt was an atrocious Christian mass-killing crime against women. Damn patriarchal religion!
"The assumption that "most women are innately heterosexual'' stands as a theoretical and political stumbling block for many women. It remains a tenable assumption, partly because lesbian existence has been written out of history or catalogued under disease;. . . partly because to acknowledge that for women heterosexuality may not be a "preference" at all but something that has had to be imposed, managed, organized, propagandized and maintained by force is an immense step to take if you consider yourself freely and "innately" heterosexual. Yet the failure to examine heterosexuality as an institution is like failing to admit that the economic system called capitalism or the caste system of racism is maintained by a variety of forces, including both physical violence and false consciousness. . ."

I read that Iraq story on CNN on Friday, and it made me sick to my stomach. The things that men do to women and claim religious justification are absolutely appalling. It defies any standard of common sense. I cannot fathom that a woman walking around town without a male escort or with make-up on merits torture and beheading. How some can, and then actually follow up and carry out that sentence, is mortifying.
Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood once asked a male friend why men feel threatened by women. He replied: "They are afraid women will laugh at them." She then asked a group of women why they felt threatened by men. They answered: "We're afraid of being killed."
