The sister of OJ Simpson’s slain ex-wife called for a boycott of a book being published in the US about the killings of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

American football star OJ Simpson, who was cleared of murdering the pair after a high-profile trial, later wrote a book called If I Did It.

Denise Brown said she was "shocked and horrified" to learn that a literary agent for Goldman’s family had reached a deal to publish the controversial book.

In a statement, she said she could not bear that her sister’s two children "will have to be subjected to this step by step manual on how their mother and her friend Ron were murdered".

Simpson has maintained his innocence in the 1994 killings and was acquitted of murder in 1995.

Brown’s condemnation came a day after Los Angeles-based literary agent Sharlene Martin of Martin Literary Management announced a deal to publish If I Did It with a yet-unnamed New York publishing house.

The new plan to publish the book came months after HarperCollins dropped the book because of public outrage.

Last month, a federal bankruptcy judge awarded rights to the book to Goldman’s family to help satisfy a 38 million dollar (£19 million) wrongful death judgment against Simpson.
