Bulgarian Women Traffickers Arrested in France

Postby Jimmy H. » Thu May 10, 2007 7:29 am

Just heard it on the radio, but I couldn't find any other online source than the one below. I am a bit surprised at the young age of the traffickers, which would indicate that the real organisers are elsewhere. I think "girls" means "young women" (that's what the radio report said) and that the "90000" are in euros.

HUMAN TRAFFICKERS FROM BULGARIA DETAINED
14:55 Thu 10 May 2007

Border police arrested two human traffickers who controlled a trafficking ring from Bulgaria to France.

Those arrested were a Bulgarian man and woman, aged respectively 24 and 25, an Interior Ministry media statement said.

They forced eight Bulgarian girls into prostitution by threatening and maltreating them.

Bulgarian and French authorities co-operated for more than a year to crack the ring. Officers uncovered the ring while examining an illegal hotel in the French town of Mulhouse.

Police in Bulgaria detained the traffickers in their apartment in the town of Devnya and seized evidence.

According to police, both traffickers had earned nearly 90 000 from their illegal actions.

They wouldn't bring them and force them if there weren't a paying clientele in sight. I'd better go before I say something like " Oh men, ye make me sick"

I don't know Jimmy, it is after all capitalism. Who knows, if they made enough money they could diversify and invest in Microsoft or something. The thing that scares me is that these people will be out and have another 30 years of trafficking ahead of them. At 25 they are capable of handling 'business" nefarious as this business may be.
"I was analyzing a phenomenon I am seeing on the internet-- a proliferation of blogs in which the blogger identifies as a radical feminist, but does not seem to embrace the distinctives of radical feminism as we understand the term in the United States. And you know, I think it's okay if they do that, but I also think it's important to say what I said because otherwise (1) herstoric radical feminism gets erased; (2) people new to feminism never hear what herstoric radical feminism really was or is."~ Heart
