HMMM... I DONT THINK SO. Anyone ever seen maxim magazine or FHM Or any of those magazines that are the newer mens magazibes that claim they are not porn? The makers and readers of these magazines say that the magazine has articles to read and humor and pages of beautiful women. But they dont say its porn. Whats sick is that i know alot of woemn who are being duped into beliveing it is not porn and it is not degrading to them or women. They think its okay since its not playboy or hustler.
These magazines actually make people belive that in some way they are not degrading but it is. Young men are the ones who buy these magazines the most. I think its sad that people thinkthese magazines are any better than porn. I am tired of women thinking they must accept these things. I am tired of women making excuses for men. Sorry but i am just tired of it all.

It's porn for guys who are 'conservatives' about sexuality. I.e. they can't look at bare breasts - but wish they could, so they justify it by saying "she's not naked so it's okay".

Very frustrating. The harm's still there - the fact that this is all mainstream makes it worse.

You need to walk into any supermarket or newsagent in the UK.

Maxim & FHM are the tip of the iceberg, and certainly not the worst (Nuts & Zoo the weeklies probably are).

None are classified as porn, merely "men's lifestyle", so can be displayed anywhere, and no age restriction on sale.

Hence, UK anti-porn fem's are quite pissed off.

I did not know what Maxxim was. Maxim whatever. So I spent some time yesterday searching it and surfing what I found.

Then, a link from Maxim took me to a Time Warner site, which had a list of all the movie stars men would like to fuck.

They called it MLF.

Got that?

This ties in with my other soapboxing this week: the pornography industry is owned by mainstream media conglomerates now, and we can expect more of this trendy popularizing, this making the gawd-awful acceptable, with the marketing department juggernaut of Time Warner.

Yes Pony, I was aware that the 'most respectable' Time Warner had their grubby mits into porn.

I traced most of the major Lads' Mags here in the UK back to the main publisher, and many back to the parent company.

EMAP is a big LM publisher here.

The Time Warner link here is ownership of IPC Media, who publish Loaded (quite a bad one).
