New UK Channel 4 Show Look Good Naked

Postby Army Of Me » Thu Jun 22, 2006 4:56 pm

I saw a trailer for this last night - I think it's called "Look Good Naked" but maybe called "Look Better Naked"

Can't remember when they said the first show goes out but will keep an eye out and post - it's soon though.

Basically it showed a line of women in their underwear, lined up like cattle at a market being judged, most were normal sized, maybe a bit on the heavy side, but normal.

some(yes you guessed it) man was then shown telling them how to dress to look sexier, exercise tricks to tone them up, then there was a shot of a woman posing nude (tastefully of course - I didn't see any t or a, but it was only a trailer).

I just can't believe how bad this body facism is becoming. I don't know if I will be able to watch the show, but I guess I will have to in order to be informed when I write a litany of semi-barbed abuse to channel 4 about this. They will no doubt pass the buck to say that I need to write to the production company, so I'll find that out too.

It's not just Stepford (Desperate) Housewives - it's Stepford SexSlaveBarbieWives (Global)

When will there be ashow with men standing there in there tightie whities with women sitting there telling them to beef themselves up or that they look to harry etc? Where is the justice in thsis world?. And also what the hell kind of entertainment value could this show possibly have? Eveyday i see soemthing crazy advertised on tv like this and i just have to roll my eyes. I can not belive how every thing is aimed towards men. I can not belive that more women dont protest this crap!

Misfit believe me, there are more women than you know(and some men), who protest about this crap, it's just that no one seems to collate and publish this, or gives an obvious, public platform the anti voices. There is no obvious visibility to the counter viewpoints as there is with porn. We are trying to change that. Many work behind the scenes to challenge these f*****s.

This is one of the issues you will find on here - how the media preach in one breath about "censorship" and "freedom of speech (Porn)". but then they censor the voices that challenge them, as to their selective filtering of information and graphics into mainstream media. By allowing a steady stream of pro-male supremacy crap, and dis-allowing the opposing view, they think they are controlling our world, and yes, many people do question it but don't say anything, some don't give a shit, and some (or many) are pro-actively male-supremist fascist.

But don't worry, there are people out there who feel like you do and are working on it.

this is why i haven't watched tv in 5 years.

but anyway, the only way to get through to these fucks is to threaten their ad revenues. believe me, if there was lots of ad revenue to be had in feminist shows, you would start seeing those. they don't give a shit about the content per se, they just want a winning formula that brings in high ratings, which means they can charge higher prices for ad space. that is honestly how the entire system works.

so you find out the advertisers who appear on the show, then target them with a mass boycott. when that works, those advertisers pull their ads. then the show has to modify its content.

but this will not happen overnight.

oh wait...are the ads on BBC4? i don't even know. yeah, the british system might be a little different. oops

oag the tv system over here is kind of confusing - any bbc stations are called just that - bbc 1, bbc2 etc - they charge a licence fee every year. Some people now think it's unfair,as you have to pay it whether or not you watch bbc programs or not - the system was started way back when tv got started.

Anything called "channel" has commercials yes - so the show on this thread is a commercial station - Channel 4 - this channel is notorious for it's controversial (cutting-edge) programming, some is good, some not. It's the station that shows Big Brother.

I don't have satellite (thank god), so don't really know about those stations - subscription channels, but they still have commercials.

You need a phd in tv channels over here.

I am getting to the point where I don't watch much tv any more, but as with looking at porn, I feel I have to know what's out there so I know what I'm fighting.

Edit - one more thing - I noticed that people don't seem to collectively boycott controversial products over here -it just doesn't seem to be done - maybe we can change that in here- I don't know why they don't do it here - it's much more of an American activity and I wish people over here would organise more along these lines.
