The Art of Surviving Art Show is happening on October 18 at YWCA of Greater Portland
Address is 1111 SW 10th Avenue in Portland Oregon.

I'm showing several visual arts pieces and headphones will be available, for experiencing audio poetic component.

I work with deep texture, rich, vibrant colors, explore dynamics and intersections of domestic violence, sexual assault, street and industrial complexities of sex for survival.

BONUS: subversive materials abound in the realms and rounds of love, solidarity, hope, freedom, healing, caring, encouragement warm blue and orange fuzzy vibes and joyful creativity.

The first night is a ticketed event, after that evening the event is free and open to the public.

Some questions:

What time does the event start on Wednesday the 18th?

How long will the show run?

I'm leaving town for a week starting the 19th and have a class Wednesday night but would love to catch this show.

The Art of Surviving Show at YWCA in Portland Oregon

October 18th from 4:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Great news! This year the Y received enough sponsorship and grants to make this a FREE preview, rather than a ticketed event.

I felt paralyzed around taking my art over there, after these recent shootings of girls at schools, and I've actually endured so much violence on the transit system, men calling me b(*&^ and pushing me, another guy pushing my arm to get my attention to give him change (i was wearing radio headphones)I told him "Don't you f(*&^ing TOUCH ME, you don't know me!" then he walked right in front of me swinging hard and wild, repeatedly, into the air...The violence directed at me doesn't end, it just morphs and I'm so sick and tired of it!!

I'm angry and sad, and had alot of tears about this violence in the schools, all triggering. When Kip Kinkel shot his family and Thurston high school students in Springfield, my family lived only a mile or so away from Thurston.

My child was in middle school, and my friends child was in elementary school at the time....we jumped in her van and went and pulled them out of school...I held my daughter so close...and went and got ice cream and we just stayed in all day long, terrified. We'd really thought maybe he would get away, and go to our daughters schools and continue shooting. We listened to the radio waiting for it all to end, so scary.

Also, guns were used against me by perps. I'm feeling my feelings.
