this reminds me of a conversation I was trying to have with my friend the other day about porn. She sees antiporn feminists as having a double standard, because one of the feminists in her class said that gay porn isn't degrading to men, but porn is degrading to women. My (ignorant) friend doesn't get it and she also keeps saying, "but some women like it" (she has a gay guy friend who's been in a porno and a gal friend who gets paid for phone sex). I told her, "No, gay porn isn't degrading to men. Porn is degrading to women, because even in gay porn, one of the men takes the 'bitch' position, and the other one is the dominant." I still "like" my friend, but I can't STAND her perspectives on so many issues. If I can get her to understand why I'm antiporn, I'll consider that a huge accomplishment. Otherwise, I'll just keep calling her stupid in private.
